Q is for Queens Park Bridge

Queens Park Bridge is in Warwick, Queensland and allows access from the Glennie Heights area over the Condamine River to the centre of the town.
When learning to drive  I would be going from town and  have to cross this bridge turn right and then soon after, turn left to go up the Weewondilla Hill to practise hill starts. Weewondilla Hill is the only steep hill around Warwick so everyone learning to drive goes there to practise.

Thanks go to great grandfather Lionel Edgar Laws for building the first bridge across the river at this place in 1909 to replace this structure.

Queens Park Bridge about 1880  Item is held by John Oxley Library, State Library of Queensland.
This was the transcript of the article that appeared in the paper at that time.

THE QUEEN'S PARK BRIDGE
The new bridge leading out of the Queen's Park is now completed, and the contractor (Mr. L. E. Laws) has been furnished with his certificate  by the architect (Mr. H. Campbell). The new structure is a very substantial one and provides a long-felt want. It is made so as to serve vehicular traffic in the near future, by making a roadway along the river to Alice Street. In the meantime, however, it will be available for foot traffic. (1)
Of course the first wooden bridge has now been replaced with a concrete one.
